Tamar is a smart and creative girl. She and her sister will be new to ALC this year where she’ll be starting 1st grade and her sister 8th grade. She has a loving family and likes to spend time with her brothers and sisters. Tamar is extremely excited about a new school, but thinks she’ll like it since she liked going to kindergarten last year. When Tamar grows up, she hopes to be a dentist.

Ahmad is a smart and active 7-year-old boy. He is happy to start 1st grade. He likes to learn, play, and help at home. He has a kind family and loves being with his siblings. He thinks it is the best place to learn and play with friends. He is excited to have fun, make friends, and learn more every day. When Ahmad grows up, he wants to be a policeman because he wants to keep everyone safe in his community and country at large.

Fulla Zaher is a kind and caring girl. She loves being helpful especially to her mom or with her siblings. At 7 she’s the oldest in her family. She has twin brothers who are nearly 4 years and a baby sister who is just 6 months old. Fulla loves to keep her brothers occupied and hold her baby sister or give her things to keep her happy. She loves going out with her dad and riding on the back of his motorcycle when they need to pick up things for her mom and the house. She is happy to officially start first grade this year. She studied at ALC for half of last year after fleeing the recent war when her home was bombed in the Southern Suburbs of Beirut. Fulla loves her school, ALC. She says it is the best place to learn, play, and have fun with friends. She really enjoys the games and the friends she makes there. When Fulla grows up, she wants to be a dentist. She wants to help people and keep their smiles healthy.

Mohammad is 7 years old. He is a happy and active boy. He has a loving family with five sisters. He likes to be with them and make them smile and laugh with the silly things he does. Mohammad’s favorite subject is math. He likes to solve problems and learn new things with numbers. He’s just finished kindergarten at a local school and is excited to join ALC each morning along with his two older sisters. When Mohammad grows up, he wants to be a police officer. He wants to help people and keep everyone safe.

Alaa Kayari is a happy and smart girl. She’s learned her entire alphabet and the letters sounds in both Arabic and English in the last 8 weeks in preparation for starting first grade this fall. She has a nice family with four siblings. She likes to play with them, especially her brother Ahmad who will also be in 1st grade with her this year. Although Alaa is just 6, she’s the oldest girl in her family so she often helps her mom with her siblings and other tasks around the house. Alaa loves learning and is excited to go to a big school, not just a a tutor. She says it is the best place to learn, play, and have fun. She feels happy and proud because her brother is also at ALC. When Alaa grows up, she wants to be a dentist. She wants to help people take care of their teeth.

Abdullah comes from a big family of 10. Abdullah is the 7th of his siblings to study at ALC. His little sister Sara is the final sibling and Abdullah likes to bring her along with him to ALC on Sabbath to feel like she’s also part of the ALC family. Abdullah has been coming to ALC since he was born and was excited when he finally became a student because he could join his older siblings each day walking to school. Abdullah says the teachers and director are kind and he likes his teacher every year. His favorite subject is math because it helps him when buying things. He also enjoys working in groups during class projects. Abdullah’s goal is to be a barber like his oldest brother Ali and give haircuts to friends and family one day.

Wessam is the fourth child in a family of five siblings. They live together in a tiny single room not far from ALC where Wessam has been at ALC for several years. Wessam likes school although he struggles with learning. He prefers working alone so he can rely on himself. He likes Arabic because it’s his language and English because it helps him understand others. He enjoys going to the beach and playing football with friends. He wants to be a police officer to protect others.

Sally is a new student at Adventist Learning Center, whose has
been on the waiting list for about 2 years. Sally is the eldest in her
family. Her mom has a serious health problem, so she has to take
on more responsibilities at home than other students her age. She
helps her mom by cooking simple meals and cleaning the house.
Sally wants to be a dentist when she grows up. She is hoping to
make kids like dentists because she is not afraid of them now like
some her friends are. To practice for her career, she even took out
two of her teeth by herself!

2025-26 3rd Graders

Nine year old Maram is Kurdish. She’s the only one of her siblings able to attend school because of the instability and employment struggles that her family has experienced as refugees. Her oldest sister dropped out of school in 7th grade to watch her 4 year old sister so both parents could work and her 12 year old brother has also been working since he was 10 to help support the family. Maram likes ALC because of the kind teachers and enjoys English since it helps her talk to others. Maram has made big improvements in her language skills in the last 6 months and is working to speak English with her teachers on a regular basis. She’s excited to start 3rd grade in the fall and is taking summer courses to improve her grammar, reading, and writing. She likes working alone but asks for help when needed. She enjoys going to the beach or hiking with her teacher.. She wants to be a cardiologist to help people with heart problems.

Rahima is an artist at heart. Whether it’s dance, drawing, painting she looks for ways for her creativity to shine through. She has been attending ALC since she began school and is now going into 3rd grade. She loves science because it includes fun projects where she can use her artistic skills, and she enjoys learning English too. Rahima is kind and helpful, supporting her friends at school and her mom at home. She’s the youngest of four siblings that come from a Kurdish family. Her first language is Kurdish, her second Arabic, and her English is growing as she builds her 3rd language. She dreams of becoming either a chef to help feed the poor or an architect to build homes for those who have lost theirs.

Israa is part of a family of seven and just finished 2nd grade at ALC. She enjoys sports, going to the park, and running at the beach. At home she likes to play with her younger sister and together they copy what her two oldest sisters do. They like to dress up, do their hair, and put on lipstick to see how they’ll look when they are older. When she has free time she also likes to play outside in the alley her apartment overlooks with the neighbor's children. Israa’s favorite subject is math because counting helps in real life. She also loves English and tries her best to express herself in English. Israa likes how her teachers make learning easy and enjoys working with friends. She dreams of becoming a surgeon to help people who can’t afford surgery.

Noura and her older sister Maram are excited to start 3rd grade this year. Noura and her sister both work hard in school and have been on the honor roll in both 1st and 2nd grade. Her favorite subject is English because it helps her learn other subjects. This year, she was happy to get the 3rd position in her class. She loves the trips and fun group activities at school. She enjoys coloring with her sister and cooking with her mom. She also spends time playing with her younger brother Ahmad and keeping him busy when her mom needs to get things done. Noura wants to be a hairdresser when she grows up or do something artistic like create things.

Safer comes from a family of five, and all his siblings have attended ALC at some point in recent years. He and his family fled Pakistan two years ago when their home was burned and destroyed. As a Pakistani refugee he and his siblings understand the other students in ALC yet they’ve had somewhat different experiences. He loves cooking and can even make dishes like seasoned potatoes on his own. He dreams of becoming a chef just like his Dad. He likes ALC because it gives someone like him with no chance of going to a local school a place to go and gives him a chance to fit into the community he finds himself in now. In the past two years he’s been working to begin speaking Arabic and read, write, and understand English. His favorite subject is English because he wants to help his father, who has a Pakistani food shop, learn to also speak with local customers.

Hussein is one of five boys in his family and has all the energy to prove it. He enjoys studying at ALC because it’s “the best school” and the teachers are patient with him even when he makes mistakes and gets in trouble. Arabic is his favorite subject. He also loves sports - especially soccer. Once he played in a soccer competition where his team won medals. He hopes he can do this again someday. At home, he helps his mom by doing chores. Hussein dreams of becoming a surgeon to help sick people.
2025-26 4th Graders

Safa is the fourth-born in a family of six, and the second in her family to attend ALC. She is heading to 4th grade and is especially excited that two of her younger siblings will be joining 1st grade this fall. At home, she loves running errands and loves being helpful and responsible. Her favorite subject is English, which she studies with so much excitement. Safa hopes to serve not just her community, but the world as her dream is to be a firefighter.

Mohammad looks up to Ronaldinho and dreams of becoming a football player just like him. At home, he’s always lending a hand—whether it’s cleaning the house or helping his mom in the kitchen, especially when fries are on the menu. His favorite subject is math Mohammad says math is a game with numbers and he enjoys memorizing math formulas and the multiplication table. and he loves ALC because he gets to learn and have fun with his friends every day.

In a family of six boys, he is the third-born. He loves spending his free time playing PlayStation and dreams of becoming a doctor one day so he can help others. At school, he enjoys the company of both his friends and teachers, which makes learning even more fun for him. His favorite subject is math because he finds it easy and exciting especially multiplication, which he loves because he plays with numbers in his mind like a puzzle.He is very happy that he was able to get a chance in the school given that he had a 3year gap in between ,he worked so hard and proved that the chance given to him was not just for granted it was one that he had prayed for so long to be able to attend school and be able to dream big and eventually achieve his dreams.

Despite the fact that Yaser was diagnosed with a learning disability he did not let this affect him in his studies, he beat the odds and always worked hard to do his best. He is a favorite kid to his father since he is the lastborn son. He appreciates the efforts of his teachers at ALC and that is why ALC has been his favorite school since he started here in 1st grade. He is excited to be joining 4th grade in fall. During his free time he loves playing soccer and spending time at his cousin’s house Hussein. ln the future he wants to be a soccer player.

Naseem is full of excitement and pride as she prepares to enter 4th grade in the fall. She has been working so hard to make it happen! Creative and imaginative, Naseem dreams of becoming an interior designer because she loves turning ordinary things into something extraordinary. In her free time, she enjoys drawing and playing with her sisters. She says she is her father's favorite child since whatever she asks from her father is always a guarantee that she has it.She is hoping her family can go back to Syria because they have a bigger house in Syria and that she can always play with her cousins over there.

Joel is full of big dreams and bold energy! He loves playing video games and is a huge fan of Indian car blogs,especially ones that feature his dream car, a Ferrari. One day, Joel hopes to become a wealthy businessman and own that Ferrari himself. At home, he’s known as the strongest in the family, proudly helping by filling water bottles and carrying them up to their fifth-floor apartment. He also enjoys watching movies with his family and going on outdoor adventures to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Yaman is the eldest of three siblings and can’t wait to start 4th grade at ALC next year. He’s excited to learn, grow, and especially discover more about community service. His dream is to become a policeman so he can help keep his community safe and united. In his free time, Yaman enjoys watching Dragon Ball and loves weekend family outings especially when they go swimming in the river, where he swims like a fish! Yaman describes himself as a shark while in the water. He hopes to work hard and create an amazing community while at ALC.To him being accepted to ALC is a dream come true since there are a lot of kids like him waiting for such opportunities.
2025-26 5th Graders

Barkhadan is 10 years old and joined ALC two years ago in 3rd grade. He studied in the third grade and worked hard to improve his level of learning. All his hard work paid off and he was recognized as Student of the Year certificate. In school his favorite subject is math because he likes working with numbers and challenging himself to solve difficult problems to get the correct answer. The part Barkhadan likes most about ALC is the educational trips, and he also enjoys hanging out with his friends at school. He wants to continue studying and working hard until he graduates from this school. Barkhadan wants to become a football player in the future. He excels at solving puzzles and fixing his toys in his free time. His plan for the future is to travel to Canada with his family, and he is praying that his ambition will come true.

Abdul Rahman is soon to be a 5th grade student. He loves writing stories, and one of his favorite pieces was about “The Halloween Day.” His favorite subject is English because it helps him communicate better and supports his interest in writing. He is courageous and strong, and he enjoys participating in sports, especially soccer. Abdul Rahman is determined to improve his soccer skills and hopes to become a great soccer player in the future. His biggest wish is to earn money through soccer and use it to help others develop their talents in sports.

Loujain is starting her second year at ALC and is ready for a great school year. Her favorite subject is Math because she’s really good at it and enjoys solving problems. She says it makes her feel smart and confident when she gets the right answers. At home, Loujain helps her mom in the kitchen and is pretty good at cooking. She also loves to sing and says her voice is her special talent. Even though her family sees her as quiet, she actually wishes she could talk with them more. She has two brothers and two sisters, and her family has been living in Lebanon for 11 years. One of her brothers lives in France and works in a restaurant making chicken and pizza - she misses him a lot. At school, Loujain isn’t shy. She has one close friend and loves to laugh and talk with her. Her friends say she talks a lot, and she enjoys being around them and having fun. When she grows up, Loujain wants to be a doctor. She wants to help people who are sick, earn money, and get blessings from God. One of her biggest dreams is to go to France someday and visit her brother. The people she loves most in the world are her family and her best friend.

Maya is the youngest child in her family and the only sibling still at ALC. She is twelve and will be in 5th grade this coming school year. She loves learning Arabic, especially because her teacher is kind and makes her feel loved. One of her favorite moments at school is when she is able to get 10 out of 10 in Arabic dictation, which always makes her day. Sadly, during the Syrian war, Maya’s father was kidnapped, and she becomes quiet in class whenever she thinks about him. She holds onto the hope of seeing him again. She’s lived in Lebanon for the last ten years with her mom, two older brothers and an older sister. Maya dreams of becoming a dentist and wants to travel to Palestine one day to help sick children and provide medical care to those in need. She also enjoys playing soccer and used to go out to play with her 16 year old brother Hamza during her free time.

Adam has been at ALC since first grade and is excited to move on to fifth grade this school year. His favorite subject is Math, and he enjoys doing mental calculations. Adam is known for his sense of humor as he loves making jokes and laughing with his friends. He enjoys spending time with them, especially when they are playing games together. One of his favorite activities is swimming because he likes being under the water. Adam hopes to become a footballer in the future and is a big supporter of both Real Madrid and Al Nasser. Outside of school, he often plays soccer with his friends and is working toward reaching his goal one day.

She’s really good at cooking, drawing, and singing, and she loves trying new things to get even better. Her favorite subject is science because she enjoys learning about the body and plants. She’s always full of curiosity and wants to keep improving her skills. Maya comes from a very supportive family. They enjoy doing things together, and that love shows in the way she carries herself at school. This year, she’s planning to work hard in school and one day, she dreams of being a rock star.

Kais is a playful and cheerful boy who loves football and video games. He has many friends at school, and they all think he’s a good person to be around. His favorite subject is math because he enjoys counting and working with numbers. He hasn’t made it to the top 3 in class yet, but he’s already planning to study harder so he can reach that goal. Kais dreams of becoming a soccer player and hopes that one day he’ll get to play for Real Madrid. For now, he’s focused on practicing and doing his best. At home, Kais feels loved and supported. He says his family gives him what he needs and he loves them very much.

Rahaf is a bright and caring big sister with a passion for languages. Her favorite subjects are English and Arabic, and she dreams of becoming a teacher in both when she grows up. One of her favorite dishes is Yalanji, a delicious Syrian delicacy which she loves to cook alongside her mom. At home, Rahaf is a role model to her younger siblings, often spending her free time helping them learn and grow to be just as smart and dedicated as she is.

Rakan is fast on his feet and loves football. He’s been at ALC since 3rd grade and has won first place twice in school sports. He also ran in two marathons—he came 3rd the first time and 2nd the next. Even though he says he can be a little lazy and annoying sometimes, his friends are kind to him and always help when he needs it. Rakan likes English because, as he puts it, "you can use it everywhere". He doesn’t have a favorite subject yet, but he likes to imagine and think about the future. Sometimes, he even talks to himself while dreaming about what’s next. Right now, he’s not sure about his plans, but one day he wants to become an engineer. Rakan’s family has lived in Lebanon for 10 years. He has one brother and one sister, and he says they are a good family who all like to help with things at home. For now, his goal is to find work and save up money, but there’s still time for him to decide what comes next.

Rahaf is one of two siblings at ALC, and her brother Khaled just completed the 8th grade last year. She’s the oldest girl in her family and is a big help to her mom with her two younger brothers. Her favorite subject is Biology because she enjoys learning about plants and understanding how the human body works. She is a bright student who placed second in her class last year because of her high grades and also won the Arabic writing competition. Rahaf is part of the companion class in the Pathfinder Club and enjoys lessons like first aid. She was proud to take part in a community service project to help clean the streets. In the future, she hopes to become a lawyer because she wants to stand for truth and justice. Even at a young age, Rahaf has earned the trust of her classmates, who often come to her for help when there is a misunderstanding. She is kind, always willing to go the extra mile to help others, and feels truly happy when she succeeds at something she has worked hard for.

Walid is the fourth child in a lively family of six. He loves watching documentaries with his siblings and admires the actors so much that he hopes to become one someday. soccer is his favorite sport, and he enjoys playing it with his friends. Walid’s role model is Ronaldinho, who inspires him to keep pushing forward and never give up on his dreams of becoming a soccer player.

Khalil is the firstborn in a family of four boys and is especially excited about his new baby brother, just four months old. He loves math because he’s smart and enjoys playing with numbers. Khalil prayerfully hopes his brother Daniel will soon accept that he’s no longer the youngest! Being part of ALC makes Khalil feel proud, as it gives him the opportunity to study and grow into a better person. Looking ahead, Khalil dreams of becoming a professional soccer player.

Farida both a new student and old student. Two years ago, at 13 years of age, she had to drop out of ALC to help her family by staying home to watch her 3 year old sister so her parents could work. For the last two years she's joined ALC in various activities and dreamed of the day she could return to studying again. This year through the support of local friends, a solution has been found for Farida's sister and Farida has been able to return to 7th grade. Farida is the oldest of four siblings and a huge help to her mom.
Farida is excited to be back to school and have new friends. She says her whole routine has been changed by returning to classes - she started waking up early, communicating with more people, getting out of the house on a daily basis. She's grateful for this and the opportunity to be with her peers again.

Eyad is the youngest child and the 5th of his siblings to attend ALC.Eyad loves to study math and is also showing significant improvement in his English speaking skills, a fact he’s very so excited about. Eyad, had this to say when asked about his experience in ALC, ”l’m glad to be studying in ALC, I am always happy here because of the friends I have and the teachers are so kind and show love to us, I want to be in school and not home .” Eyad enjoys playing video games and has been making youtube videos since he was only 6. He likes showing people what he knows and has the dream of studying to become a police officer in the future.

Ali is one of the tallest boys in his class, and he loves using that in handball and basketball. He’s full of energy, always playful, and has lots of friends. His classmates think he’s smart, kind, and helpful. Last year, Ali came second in his class. He also played in both football and basketball championships as part of a club team. His favorite subject is science because he wants to become a scientist and also study computer engineering in college when he grows up. His dream is to explore new things and become the best scientist ever. Ali is the first born, his home is a busy home where everyone works hard . Ali is always curious and full of big ideas. He wants to try everything in the world because, to him, the world feels big, interesting, and full of surprises.

As a member of the Pathfinders and the Art Club, he actively engages in school activities. He is determined to be the first in his class next year to make his family proud. His dream destination is the Maldives, drawn by its mesmerizing nature and beauty. He aspires to visit this tropical paradise in the future. Ahmad's teachers appreciate his respectful behavior and dedication to his studies, making him a well-rounded student admired by both peers and educators.

Sobhi is the best goalkeeper in his class and on his team. He’s full of energy, and always ready for a new challenge. His favorite subject is sports because he just loves to play. He’s in both the football and swimming clubs, and he says he knows how to swim, dive underwater, and even swim like a fish. This is Sobhi’s first year at ALC. Last year, he studied at a school in Bourj Hammoud and finished 4th in his class. One of his special talents is riding a bike, he can do it like a professional. He’s not shy or quiet and says being quiet for more than three hours just isn’t for him. He has a lot of friends and always finds a way to solve problems when they come up. Sobhi lives with a happy family, and every weekend they go on a trip together. When he grows up, he wants to become a pilot and fly high in the sky.

Although she's been here just two weeks, Rima has quickly established positive relationships with others and is trying to make new memories in the new school she's always wanted to attend. She has been following the school page on Instagram and she learned all the students in her class by their faces even before she became a student herself.
Rima's favorite subject is math, but her biggest dream is to become a
cardiovascular surgeon and try to help others as much as she can.
Rima comes from a small family of three siblings, of which she is the oldest. Her younger siblings are still on the waiting list and are waiting for the chance to one day attend ALC like Rima.

Diyar has developed a love for acting, especially during Arabic drama lessons, where he enjoys performing and believes he has a natural talent for it. His dream is to become a famous actor in the future. He is also very active in Sports class and was awarded second place in the 5th grade to 8 sports awards. He is part of the Pathfinder Club and really enjoys the activities, especially hiking and camping. Diyar also attends Sabbath fellowship regularly with his close friends Noor and Hussein. His favorite subject is Math because he enjoys solving problems and feels happy when he finds the right answers. During his free time, he likes playing soccer with his friends. He has been at ALC from 3rd grade to 7th grade and is known for being kind and helpful, always doing his best to support his classmates when they need help.

Kulistan is a new student and is excited to begin her journey at ALC in the upcoming academic year as she enters Grade 8. She had the opportunity to join the summer classes and is hoping to get along well with her new classmates. One interesting thing about Kulistan is her ability to make friends easily and maintain those friendships because of her kind and friendly attitude. She has four siblings, but only her younger sister will be attending ALC with her, starting in first grade. Kulistan’s favorite subject is Arabic because the Arabic teachers are kind to her. She hopes to become an Arabic teacher in the future and have her own students to teach and inspire.
