Sham is very talented with languages, and his top favorite subjects to study are Spanish and English. He's disappointed ALC doesn't have Spanish lessons, but he's excited to advance in English.
While he is usually quiet and attentive during lesson times, Shem comes alive with incredible energy and enthusiasm on the sports field! He is highly passionate about physical fitness, and his absolute favorite hobby in the world is playing football and running around with his friends.

Mustafa is the middle brother of a big Kurdish family. He is very close to his younger brother, who is a twin and only a year younger than him. Because they are close in age, he enjoys everything they do together. He loves nature, especially the sea, where he enjoys swimming, which makes him feel strong. He hopes to take up boxing because he admires Mohammad Ali so much. He also hopes to become an engineer in the future because of his love for drawing geometric shapes.
Mustafa is a new student to ALC this year and he is doing his best during summer classes and working hard so he can hopefully join the 6th grade if his English level improves. He will be joining his older sister Hiyam who is registered for 8th grade. His twin siblings that are one year younger than him will continue attending a small center to improve their English before they also apply to ALC.

Because he doesn't own his own scooter, Abdul Rahman often helps out at a neighboring motorcycle shop where he washes bikes for the owner in exchange for getting a free hour on the scooters the motorcycle shop rents out.
He likes coming to school to learn and also to see his two friends, Khaled and Barkhadan. Abdul has earned the trust of his friends because he is kind and treats them with respect. Abdul dreams of becoming a businessman in the future to earn more money. He has a special interest in trading and selling cars. His favorite subjects are Social Studies and English, and he wants to work hard to improve in math which is his weakest subject. Abdul is cheerful and is known by his teachers and staff as being someone who is helpful and always willing to pitch in.

While her level is slightly lower than her peers because of her unstable education, she is very motivated and has proven herself to be a hard worker in applying the new things she’s taught. Although Marwa comes from a big family of four siblings, she describes herself as a quiet and more private person. She said she’d rather have one close friend to share her thoughts and secrets with than lots of friends to spend her time with. In her free time she enjoys reading and helping her mom cook.
