April 13, 2026
As you've probably seen in the news, Beirut was heavily bombed this past week.
Despite a heavy number of casualties and wounded people in the city, everyone from ALC is safe: students, teachers and staff. School is still in session!
Alexis and her ALC team have faced challenges in reaching the 25-30 families they have been serving after school hours, but they have pushed through the hurdles and are still able to meet them with food and supplies, purchased with your generous donations.
On the day after the heaviest bombings, safety concerns prevented them from going too deep into some streets, but one of the men there arranged three guys to meet them halfway on scooters each day and pick up meals for 25 families!

Hilaz Story
After two sons, Ibrahim and his wife welcomed a little princess they couldn’t adore more and named her Hilaz. They dressed her up, took her out and loved the way people noticed the way her big brown eyes sparkled when she was happy.
Now after six weeks living in a tent at Beirut’s waterfront, eighteen-month old Hilaz’s skin nearly matches the brown of her eyes. Her cheeks are red and chapped and carries marks from it cracking because of the sun. Her father Ibrahim pulls out his phone to show us how beautiful she was before they were forced into a life of homelessness. “Look how white she was” he remarks, “she was so beautiful but look what's happened to her now.”
Before last month, Ibrahim could provide everything he needed for his kids. Despite being a refugee who arrived in Beirut fourteen years ago when the war in Syria just began, he had a stable job and was able to support his family. “I never imagined my children would live a life of war,” he says. “I left my own country to make sure my family was able to live a normal life free of fear.” All of Ibrahim’s children from 12 year old Salim, to 6 year old Kheir, and little Hilaz were born in Lebanon, the country that welcomed them with the promise of safety.
Now Ibrahim, his wife, and their three children live under the open skies in a donated tent that they raised on a wooden platform so it wouldn't be flooded during the near daily rainstorms of March. Like all families on the street , Ibrahim not only no longer has a home, but also lost his job which means no income.
Because of your donations to ALC, Ibrahim and his family have had at least one meal per day. Hilaz has had milk, diapers, and medications when she was sick. Thank you for making the lives of kids like Hilaz just a bit easier while they live on the streets.

March 2026 - War Outreach by ALC
When the war started at the end of February, Beirut schools closed down for a week. Alexis and her outreach team, composed of teachers and former and current students, sprung into action right away. They brought kit-meals to the displaced people in the capital's downtown area, as it was still Ramadan, so people could break their fast in the evening by assembling the meals themselves.
Schools reopened the following week, despite strikes on Beirut continuing. A couple of them hit at the other end of ALC's neighborhood, but Alexis and team still went out of their way to prepare and distribute meals for about 125 displaced people, as well as children clothing, diapers and formula.
As the war continues, food prices are rising in Lebanon, and the school budget is stretched out. We appreciate everyone's help to fund this extra outreach, supported by the brave staff and students of ALC, showing their love in action.

Friends and Donors around the world… did you ever wonder what type of weather we’re having in Beirut?! Let 4th grader’s Asmaa and Naseem be your weather forecasters and tell you what to expect if you’re planning to visit.
This is part of their weather and cloud project in science.
