It's the first Monday in September, and since ALC began in 2013, that's always meant one thing: the first day of school is here! The teachers were ready and waiting, the kids were all on time, and we had a beautifully peaceful first day.

Our first day of orientation was filled with fun, laughter, and lots of crafts, acting, and discussion as students explored topics like respect for others, personal responsibility, classroom rules, and even how to care for our bodies.

Here are a few photos of some of the things they learned. The 4th grade students categorized photos of acceptable vs unacceptable behavior in the classroom.

Safaa shows the things she believes are "unacceptable.

Our new 8th graders had a discussion on school safety and then wrote mini imagined scenarios of what could go wrong by acting in a dangerous or unsafe way while at school.  The highlight of the activity was when each person chose a friend to act out their scenario with them.

Perhaps most exciting of all, we have a whole new batch of 1st graders who had their first day at ALC!

Meet Alaa & Mohammad.

Keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we work to educate and bring joy to each of these precious kids.
